January 31, 2012

January 23rd was the start of the Lunar New Year, (or Chinese New Year as it’s known in America). I didn’t do much to celebrate it, although I would have had I been with my family (either in Singapore, Vancouver, or California) and that thought made me feel sad and homesick So, in hopes that I might have friends to celebrate with, I decided to share a few ways to show solidarity with your American Born Chinese (ABC) friends as they celebrate Chinese New Year.

1. Wear red.
2. Wish others well (Gong Xi).
3. Eat noodles.
4. Honor your family and your elders (by spending time with them).
5. Rock your jade.
6. Give thanks.
