Blog_Victoria_Ruan_Photography_BabyDominic-12 Anna and Joe were my first wedding clients in 2011 and I was super excited to photograph them as new parents last October.  An early Happy Father’s Day to Joe and all my friends and clients celebrating their first year as a parent.  You’re all superheros and rockstars in my book.

A few of my favorites from Anne and Tom’s bridal portraits in Meridian Hill Park and their wedding at Josephine Butler Parks Center.   It was such a gift for me to witness how deep their love is for their family and friends.  Lula Mae Special Events did a gorgeous job with the space and Eat & Smile Catering put together a really yummy menu, and every person on their team that night was so friendly.  You can view the full gallery here.

Last week, I had an incredible experience photographing the attendees of Bossed Up Bootcamp in Washington, DC.

I can’t explain it….but when women get together in a space where they feel supported, empowered, and connected- there is this palpable, positive energy that comes out of that is amazing and beautiful and that’s the energy I was trying to capture with these headshots- can you sense it?

Thank you to all of the attendees for trusting me as their photographer and opening up their beautiful selves to my lens.

And thank you to the wonderful @EmilieAries for inviting me to participate in this electric conference.  I am so excited to have your ingenuity and leadership in this city.  If you’re a woman looking to take steps to bring about positive changes in your life- whether that be in your career or personal life-  I highly encourage you to check out Bossed Up !  They have a conference coming up in Boston in a few weeks.  Check it out here: http://bossedup.org/register/bossed-up-bootcamp-boston/

My favorite portrait sessions always end up being the ones where I didn’t have a set list of poses or a checklist of backdrops in my head.  That’s why I like engagement sessions with my clients. There’s a sweet simplicity to them.  I get to hang out with two cool people and create photographs that reflect who they are.

Thank you K&B for inviting me out to your neighborhood in Hyattsville and trusting me to create something real that reflects your life and love.

If you want to win a engagement session with me and Voila! Event Studio, sign up for the Bridal Bellhop giveaway here. All you have to do is tell us the story of your love.  And if your engagement story didn’t involve fireworks, a chariot, or a YouTube video, you should still sign up.   Sometimes, the best stories are the simple ones.
